Trimay uses the ability of plate to guard against wear to benchmark overall product quality. Most commonly, the ASTM G65 test is used to guage wear ability in dry environments and, likewise, the G75 for wet (slurry environments). That being said, there are 3 guiding truths about the quality of our wear plate:
- All overlays are cost effective.
- Our chromium carbide entry level product (T138) consistently outlasts abrasion resistant (AR) plate products by 6 times in dry environments, and 8 times in wet environments. There are some extreme circumstances where AR plate must be used to absorb the direct impact from an environment, however, the majority of the time it is cost-effective to substitute Trimay's plate for AR.
- Improper plate selection can (and has) resulted in our product outlasting its purpose.
