Hardfacing Electrodes General Characteristics Trimay TWP 56E is a heavily coated chromium carbide electrode for hardfacing of construction machinery and equipment components subject to high abrasion. This electrode has excellent welding properties and produces smooth bead surfaces. The high metal recovery (160%) and a high deposition rate make this product very economical. Deposit can be machined by grinding only. Trimay TWP 57E is a hard facing electrode with a high decomposition rate producing high wear resistant deposits on structural and machine components subject to severe abrasion. It applies easily, without slag interference, and has equally good welding performance using either AC or DC equipment. Applications Trimay TWP 56E is suitable for economical hard overlays on shovel buckets and teeth, bulldozer corner bits, chutes, dragline chains, dredge pump impellers, fan blades, mill augers, hammer mill impellers, tamper tools, etc. Trimay TWP 57E is suitable for hard overlays on steel and alloyed steel. Ideal for hard surfacing components of earth moving equipment, augers, chutes, mill hammers, dragling buckets, bucket teeth, snow plow shoes, plow shears and on other equipment components subject to severe abrasion. Welding Procedure Trimay TWP 56E - Clean the weld zone free from oil, grease, rust, dirt and other contaminants. With the electrode vertical to work piece, maintain a short arc. Application of a cushion layer is recommended for hard facing of manganese steels. Stress relieving (cross-checking) may occur during cooling. Trimay TWP 57E - Clean the weld zone free of all contaminants by grinding and remove previous deposits of hard surfacing. With the electrode vertical to work piece, maintain a short to medium arc length. Weaving may be used. Application of a cushion layer is recommended for hard facing of manganese steels. Do not preheat manganese steel. Stress relieving (cross-checking) may occur during cooling.
